A fun introduction to the basics of Irish Dance with a program specifically for young children. Students explore movement, rhythm, music, and song in an energetic class.

Dancers develop coordination, social skills and gain confidence within the studio environment in a small class setting.  With individual focus and attention from our instructors and teaching assistants, preschool students learn the necessary skills required for Irish dance.

Children enrolling in our Preschool program should be able manage the class on their own without parent accompaniment. 

WINTER TERM: Jan 5th - March 25th, 2023 (11 Weeks)

CLASS LENGTH: 60 min

SCHEDULE OPTIONS: Sat 9:30 - 10:30 am or Wed 5:30 - 6:30 pm

TERM FEE: $210 Term  Plus 5% GST

Female Options Ballet Slippers (black for performances), Irish Soft Shoes with Ankle Length Poodle Socks, or Gymnastic Style Slippers (black for performances).

Male - Jazz Syle Shoes(black).

New dancers may begin with socks but should have the recommended footwear within the first few weeks of classes. Barefeet are not recommended for safety reasons.

New Irish Dance Shoes can be ordered on-line from Irish Dance Supply stores. Second Hand Shoes are an economic option for growing dancers and we have a school Facebook group dedicated to Buy and Sell for Second hand dance shoes and costumes.

Dance clothing should allow for non-restrictive movement. Long hair should be tied back. Limit jewellery for safety reasons.

BOTTOMS - Preferred Colour Black

Tights, leggings, yoga or dance pants, shorts and dance skirts should not impede dancers movement. For safety yoga and dance pants should not be longer than ankle length.

TOPS - Preferred Colour black

Bodysuits, Athletic Tops, and T-shirts should allow for movement.

NOT RECOMMENDED

Jeans, dress pants, sweat pants or dresses

Hoodies or sweatshirts

Winter 11 Week Session Preschool Students are invited to perform at St Patrick's Fest (March 17th, 2023).

Performance is optional and dancers will require school costume.

Costumes are only needed for dancers who wish to perform

Female - McConnell Malley Sport Skort, Black Short Slevee Bodysuit.

Male - McConnell Malley Sport Polo Shirt, Black Dress Pants

Irish Dance costumes are used for several years, until a dancers grows or advances levels and needs to upgrade. Malley Sport Costume orders are placed in January each season. Second Hand Costumes are a good, economic option for growing dancers. We have a school Facebook group dedicated to Buy and Sell for Second Hand Dance Shoes and Costumes.

New Costume Fees

Female -Malley Sport Skort $100, Black Short Sleeve Bodysuit $15 - $30.

Male - Malley Sport Polo $75, Black Dress Pants $30 - $50

11 Week Term - $210 plus GST

A One-Time Yearly Registration Fee $30 is added for new students. Full Term payment is due upon registration. Dancers who wish to withdrawal after the first class will be provided a refund for the clases they did not attend. No refunds are offered after the first class and notification of early withdrawal must be received in writing (email).

A fun and energetic introduction to Irish dance for students 5 - 7 and 8 - 11 years.

Dancers learn basic Irish Soft shoe technique, rhythm, and timing in a one hour which includes warm up, technique and choreography.  Students learn the Basic Bunghrád Reel and learn their first Ceili (group) dance. Dancers develop technique, gain confidence, and social skills in a small class setting

ADULT +18

11 WEEKS

January 7th - March 25th 2023

In this fun Adult's Only Class, adult students of all ages and abilities are welcome for Irish Soft Shoe and Ceili Group dancing.  From new beginner with no dance training to more experience dancers, all students are welcome in this fun and social "Adults Only" atmosphere. 

Irish Dance Warm up, Technique, and the basics of Irish dance starting with the Bunghrad (Beginner) Reel, Slip Jig, Single Jig, and Light Jig.   Ceilis (group dance) and figure dances with choreography are also included. 

TERM:  January 7th - March 25th 2023

Female - Irish Soft and Hard Shoes (optional) with Ankle Length Poodle Socks.

Male - Boys Reel and Hard Shoes (optional) or Black Capezio Shoes with Ankle Length Black Dress Socks.

Dancers should have the required footwear by the end of the first month of classes. We recommend students wait a few classes before they purchase Irish dance shoes in order to ascertain whether or not they intend to continue with lessons. New students may wear socks, well fitting slippers or ballet slippers for the first few weeks of classes.

New Irish Dance Shoes can be ordered on-line from Irish Dance Supply stores.

Second Hand Shoes are an economic option and we have a school Facebook group dedicated to Buy and Sell for Second hand dance shoes and costumes

Dance clothing must allow for non-restrictive movement for safety. Long hair should be tied back at all times. Jewellery should be limited to medical alert. Simple studs for dancers who cannot remove earrings.

Poodle socks (ladies) or Black Dress Socks (men) should be worn to class to insure dance shoes do not over-stretch.

BOTTOMS - Colour Black

Tights, leggings, yoga or dance pants, shorts and dance skirts must be of an appropriate length and not impede with dancers movement. For safety yoga and dance pants must not be longer than ankle length.

TOPS - Colour black

With the exception of Malley School Clothing or Feis-shirts, all dancers should wear plain black tops. Bodysuits, Athletic Tops, and T-shirts are permissible as long as they allow for movement and are not overly large.

NOT APPROPRIATE

No hats or baseball caps

Female - Malley Sport School Dress or Plain Black Dress.

Male - Malley Sport Polo Shirt, Black Dress Pants

Irish Dance school costumes are kept in circulation for several years and can be sold when a dancer no longer uses it. We have a school Facebook group dedicated to Buy and Sell for Second Hand Dance Shoes and Costumes.

Costumes are only required for dancers who wish to perform or compete.

Students are invited to perform at St Patrick's Fest', Annual Recital, and Folklorama.

Performance is optional and dancers require a school costume in order to perform.

Dancers who are interested in competitive Irish Dance are invited to compete in our local Canada Feile and Canada Open Championship. Graded competitions are offered for dancers over 6 to adult. Our local competitions are a great opportunity for dancers to try competitive Irish dance without the burden of travel. Dancers who wish to pursue competitive Irish dance have the opportunity to compete in Regional and National competitions.

Competition is optional and dancers require a school costume in order to compete.
