SCHOOL DRESS CODE

In order to create a healthy environment where dancers are focused on learning without distraction, we ask all students to adhere to our school Dress Code.

For the first few classes, we understand if students do not have the appropriate dance attire, but we ask all dancers have the correct dance clothing and footwear within the first month of classes.

Dance clothing should allow for non-restrictive movement for safety. Long hair should be tied back at all times. Jewellery should be limited to medical alert. Simple studs for dancers who cannot remove earrings. Dance costumes should not be worn to class.

Poodle socks (girls) or Black Dress Socks (boys) should be worn to class to insure dance shoes do not over-stretch.

BOTTOMS - COLOUR BLACK

Tights, leggings, yoga or dance pants, shorts and dance skirts or skorts must be of an appropriate length and not impede with dancers movement. For safety yoga and dance pants should not be longer than ankle length.

TOPS - COLOUR BLACK

Bodysuits, athletic tops, and t-shirts should allow for ease of movement and should not be overly large

NOT APPROPRIATE FOR CLASSES

Jeans, dress pants, dresses, and Irish dance costumes (these should be saved for performances). No Hoodies, sweaters, sweatshirts, hats or baseball caps

IRISH DANCE SHOES

BALLET SLIPPERS

SOFT SHOES

REEL SHOES

HARD SHOES

SOFT SHOES

Ladies wear Irish Soft shoes (pumps, or ghillies).  Soft shoes are leather soled lace up shoes which should be a snug fit to give dancers support.

Beginner 4 - 6 & Wee Ones may wear black pleated toe ballet slippers with black elastic sewn across for their first year.  We do no recommend gym style fabric slippers as they do not assist dancers in pointing their toes.

BOYS REEL SHOES

Males wear Reel Shoes or Capezio Jazz Shoes.

Beginners start with soft heel shoes (Capezio Jazz shoes) and progress to Reel Shoes with Hard Shoe Heel pieces. Your instructor will inform you when it’s time to advance to Reel Shoes with heel pieces.

HARD SHOES
Both Females and Males wear Irish Dance Hard Shoes.  Hard shoes are not needed for Beginner & Level 1 classes but are required for Level 1 - 3 Competitive Hard Shoe Classes.
